Physiological significance of far infrared radiation of BIOFirion® products

Summary
The most fundamental thermal property of far infrared radiation is explained in special reference to resonance with human body water and constituents. Using some bracelet, necklace, mat pad and so on, skin temperature change due to far infrared radiation in main are described.  Furthermore, feasible contributions of negative ion, heat shock protein(HSP), immunity power are discussed for physiological significance of far infrared radiation.

I. Introduction
When you hear the word” Far infrared radiation”, what kind of images do you have ? Since it is invisible for human eye, it is very difficult to identify and show far infrared rays. In our daily life, however, we are so frequently confronted with far infrared radiation in case of various heating procedures and devices such as stone spars. Therefore, using some actual examples of thermographs, I would like to describe some basic backgrounds of far infrared radiation which are very important for good understanding of fundamental properties and various benefits BIOFirion products, including some relationships with heat shock protein(HSP) and immunity.

II. Explanation of electromagnetic waves and far infrared rays
As shown in Fig.1, electromagnetic waves are composed with various rays with different wave length respectively, : i.e., from shorter wave length, gamma ray, X ray, ultra violet ray, visible light (400nm~700nm), infrared ray, micro wave, radio wave.  Among them, only visible light from 400nm to 700nm can be detected with human naked eye.   Infrared ray which ranges from 700nm to 1000micron equal to 1000x1000nm is consisted of such two components as near infrared ray (700nm to ca. 4000nm) and far infrared ray ( ca.4000nm to 1000x1000nm). Within far infrared ray, physiologically important wave range from ca.4000nm to 14000nm is contained. In special, ca. 6000nm, and 8 to 10 micron equal to 8000nm to 10000nm are very important resonance with water and human body, respectively . The combined mechanisms of resonance and vibration of water and body constituents within the human body in correspondence with appropriate wave length plays important roles for heat generation.  The extent of heat generation can be monitored with thermograph visually. This thermograph technology is very convenient for rough quick estimation of surface temperature changes of target materials such as human skin, organs and various materials.

Fig. 1,  Diagram of electro-magnetic spectrum.   Infrared region is composed of near Infrared and far infrared, Within this far infrared ray from 4 to 14 micron, various molecular oscillations occur, resulting in resonance with human body water and constituents.
